The "Rockland House Motel & Restaurant" are one in the same and this review will address them simultaneously.

    "The Motel"
I made advanced reservation to stay at this place "after" our reunion.  I received "favorable" reviews that this was a nice place, so I paid $120.00 for two rooms.

On the day that we were supposed to arrive, I made numerous calls throughout the morning and into the afternoon before someone answered the phone.

When I inquired about our reservations, I got the following replay; "ya, I recalled seeing your name somewhere on the sheet this morning."

I arrived at our destination to the sign of "Hotel Check In" next to the "Rockland Restaurant."

I walked into the "Check In"/"Restaurant" only to walk into a bar?

When I asked where the "hotel check in" was, I  was directed to follow this lady into the "kitchen" to  pay for our rooms???  To say I was surprised was an understatement.  The waitresses also take care of checking motel guests?

Our room smelled "musty" and had insects on the ledge (moths). There was a stick to prevent the sliding window from opening all the way and had no way of locking the window!!

The floor wasn't vacuumed, torn bed cover and a closet wall, which was broken!

The other room was in the same condition but no locks for the sliding window. When I asked about there being no locks, the response I got was, "oh nothing happens here, your safe?"

Evidently I'm not the first to complain about the problem because others who have stayed here addressed the same issue.

I was also "assured" that there is a lock for the windows, which there wasn't. They're either ignorant of issues taking place or simply just don't care.  Sad....

I gave my "wood slat" to my wife and daughter  for their room and my son and I would deal with anyone who decided to enter our room through the window!!!!  Unfortunately, I had a "restless" night worrying.

    "The Restaurant"
After checking in we decided to grab a bite to eat at the restaurant since it was on the premise.

I believe I observed roughly 30 tables with two other parties inside.  I saw two waitresses but it took awhile before we were even asked what we wanted!?  "Did I mention that there was only two other parties!!??

Their menu, which was way overpriced started off around $20.00. We didn't want to be rude and opted for their salad bar instead.

They had "Manhattan Clam Chowder," which tasted more on the side of vegetable soup.  Where was the clam?

The other soup was "Pasta Faguli," which really had no flavor, had very little pasta and beans?

My daughter ordered a sweet potato and when it arrived, it was luke warm and looked like it had seen better days!  The skin was all shriveled up like it sat on the counter awhile.

The service was "non existent" and I had to ask for our bill!?  "There was only one other couple inside but no waitresses?"

When I went up for our check one of the waitresses was eating and telling the other for the check......!?  "WOW!"

We noticed another waitress carrying her baby and chatting with other employees and not taking care of her customers.  The waitresses were not doing their jobs.

They were eating and yakking with people in the bar and ignoring the needs of their customers. Not a way to run a business.

    "My assessment"
Overall our dining and overnight stay was an unpleasant experience.

They said they had WiFi but between several phones it didn't work.

The food was overpriced and service was "non existent."

The rooms were not cleaned, no security locks for their windows, dead insects, etc...

I try never to "sugar coat" my experience and apologize to anyone who maybe offended but I try and give the reader an "unbiased and honest assessment" of my experience.
